The User page in ADAM allows you to create or edit ADAM users if you have permission to do so. Note that users don't necessarily have the ability to log in to ADAM. For example, students are often added as users in ADAM without the ability to log in. District and School Coordinators are added as users in ADAM with the ability to log in.
To create or edit an ADAM user:
- Go to Rostering > Users.
- Do one of the following:
- Click the Create New button on the top right to create a new user. You can only create users in your organization and child organizations, depending on your role authority.
- Search for the user you want to edit, and then click the edit icon for the appropriate user. Users are restricted by the organization you belong to. If you are a School Administrator, you will only be able to search for users in the same school.
- Click the tabs in the left navigation to access the information described below. Your role authority determines which tabs you have access to.
Information
- First Name and Last Name – Required.
- Preferred First Name and Preferred Last Name – Optional. If preferred names are entered, they will appear in ADAM rather than the given names. See Understanding Preferred Names in ADAM.
- Role – Required. Select the role, such as Teacher or Student.
- Identifier – Required. The user ID from the state, district, or school.
- Grades – Required for students and teachers. Select the user's grade or grades.
- Schools (Org Scope) – Required. Select the user's school(s) and/or district of enrollment.
- Reporting Orgs – Select additional reporting organizations; for example, if a student is enrolled in a charter school but also reports to a district for funding. Organizations selected in the Schools dropdown cannot be selected here because they already have reporting enabled by default.
- Assignment Tags – Select student assignment tags, such as ALG1, which can be used as criteria when creating a test administration. This makes it easier to create administrations with out-of-level testing.
- Sourced ID – Required. The user's ADAM identifier.
- Username – Required for non-student users and students who log in to ADAM. Enter a username. Not needed for users who do not need to log in to ADAM.
- User Email – Optional. Welcome and password reset emails can be sent to users.
- Set Password – Enter and confirm a password or leave blank if you have entered the user's email. They will be able to set their password from the welcome email.
- User Enabled – Required for active users. This checkbox must be selected for users to log in to ADAM. You can also enable or disable multiple users from the User Config search page.
