Mac and Windows Installation Steps

  1. Go to https://adamexam.com/ and click Download Lockdown Browser.

  2. Click the button for the operating system you are using: Windows Install or Mac Install. The installation package will download.
  3. On your device, double-click to open the downloaded installation package and follow the on-screen installation instructions.
  4. After the installation is complete, click the ADAM icon to open the application.

Chromebook Installation Steps

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console to open the Admin console Home page. 
  2. Go to Devices, and then select Chrome.
  3. Click Apps & Extensions, and then select Kiosks.
  4. To apply the settings to all devices being managed through the console, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a “child organizational” unit. 
  5. Click the Add button and choose Add from Chrome Web Store.
  6. In the Chrome Web Store add the ADAM Test Delivery app. The app can also be added using the ADAM Test Delivery ID: okfigdffapmhgfallhnfhnfplcemcclm 
  7. After the installation is complete, the ADAM Lockdown Browser should be installed on all the associated machines. Students can click the ADAM icon in the system tray. They should not login to the Chromebook.

iOS Installation Steps

Note: The iOS installation is for iPad only.

  1. Open to the Apple App Store on your iPad. 
  2. Search for “Adam Secure Browser” in the App Store, and then download and open the app.

  3. After the installation is complete, click the ADAM icon to open the app.

System Startup Checks

The following system requirements are automatically verified by the ADAM Lockdown Browser. If a device fails one of these checks, a summary of the issue is displayed on screen, and when possible, the user will have an opportunity to resolve it. For example, if the Lockdown Browser detects that a device has two monitors, an alert will be displayed on screen with instructions with the option for the user to unplug one monitor and then click Retry to rerun the checks. Similar notifications are provided if the user has a low battery level and is not plugged in to a power outlet. 

Warning messages that may display on the screen do not prevent the application from starting. 

Hardware

  • Cumulative CPU speed is greater than 233MHz. 
  • Total RAM available is greater than 256MB. 
  • iPads must be 5th generation or later. 
  • At least 50 MB of free hard drive space. (Warning) 

Display

  • Only one attached monitor. 
  • Minimum resolution of 1024x768. (Warning) 
  • Minimum color depth 24-bit. 

Battery

  • Device recommended to be plugged into a power source. (Warning) 
  • Battery level should be at least 50% if not plugged in. (Warning) 

Operating System

  • OS cannot be running in a virtualized environment. 
  • macOS: version 10.13 to 11.1. 
  • Windows: Windows 10 or later. 
  • Chrome OS: version 72 to 89.
  • iOS: version 12.1 to 14.5. 

Network

  • Server is accessible.
  • After the System Checks there is one last network check based on how long it takes for the first page of the Lockdown Browser to load. If the initial page load exceeds the limit set, then the System Check will fail.
