Creating a Practice Test

  • Updated

Follow the steps in this article to create a new practice test. See Creating a District or State Test for more detailed instructions for the first two steps. Make sure that:

  • you have role permissions to add tests and publish tests, and
  • a form has already been created (note the name of the Form so you can use it later).

Workflow: Create a New Test → Publish Test → Create New Practice Test.

Create a New Test

Step one is to create a new test using an existing form. See Creating a District or State Test for detailed instructions.

Important: Make sure to select the Practice Test checkbox on the Settings and Overrides page.

Publish the Test

Step two is to publish the test. See Creating a District or State Test for detailed instructions.

Create the Practice Test

Step three is to create the practice test. You name and configure some additional settings for the user experience during the practice test.

  1. Go to Test Management > Practice Tests.
  2. Click the Practice New button.
  3. Complete the Test Select page, and then click the Next button.
    • Test – Select the test from the dropdown. If the test is not found in the search, make sure it is published and active.
    • Administration Name – Follow your naming convention.
    • Details – Optional.
  4. Complete the Access page, and then click the Next button.
    • Secure Access – Check this if you want to require the lockdown browser in order to take this practice test.
    • Show Rubrics – Check this if you want the rubrics to be displayed within the Practice Test.
    • Access Window – Set the date range for when the Practice Test should be available.
  5. Confirm your choices on the Review page, and then click the Submit button.
Note: Check the Auto Enable TTS value. This comes from the Test Config. If it is wrong, do not continue with the save. Go back to the Test Config, change the Auto-Enable TTS setting, and start over with the Practice Test creation.
